Senator Dino Melaye has lost his bid to return to the Senate under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.

The former lawmaker was on Tuesday defeated in the party primaries for Kogi West by Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf.

Dino polled  polled 99 votes while Mr Yusuf, a current member of the House of Representatives polled 163 votes.

Mr Yusuf  had levelled with Dino on Monday night when they both scored 88 votes apiece; leading to a rerun.

But at the rerun on Tuesday, Yusuf was able to secure a majority of the votes.
