Davido’s uncle, Adeleke defeats Gov Oyetola to win Osun Election


Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been declared winner of the Osun State Governorship election.

Senator Adeleke who is the uncle of famous Nigerian singer, Davido, defeated the incumbent Governor and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to clinched the number one seat in the state.

He polled a total of 402,979 votes against his closest opponent, Governor Oyetola who got 375,077 votes.

Dr Akin Ogunbiyi of the Accord Party came third with 4,508 votes, followed by Mr Yusuf Lasun of the Labour Party with 2,729 votes, African Action Congress with 2,141 votes and Mr. Oyegoke Omigbodun of the Social Democratic Party with 515 votes.

Adeleke won in 17 local government areas while Governor Oyetola won 13 local government areas.

Incumbent Governor, Oyetola defeated Adeleke and others after polling 255,505 votes against Adeleke, who had 255,023 votes at the end of a supplementary election, and was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
