Lawmaker Suspended For ‘Watching Porn’ During Plenary

Neil Parish, a member of the British House of Commons, has been suspended for allegedly watching pornography on his mobile phone during plenary.

Bloomberg reported that Chief Whip Chris Heaton-Harris’s office said in emailed statement that the accused lawmaker has been suspended from the parliamentary party pending the outcome of an investigation by the Commons Standards Committee.

Parish referred himself for investigation after speaking to Heaton-Harris on Friday, according to the statement.

Parish didn’t immediately respond to a text message and an email seeking comment.
Two calls to his parliamentary office number went to voicemail.

The porn allegations this week reignited a long-running row over the culture toward women in Westminster.

The Sunday Times reported that three members of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s cabinet are among 56 MPs, who are facing allegations of sexual misconduct and have also been reported to Parliament’s Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme.

Parish has served as the Member of Parliament for Tiverton and Honiton in Devon, South-West England since May 2010.

He’s served as chair of the House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee since 2015.
He’s married and has two children.
