Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Muhammed says he will be a President for all Nigerians if elected to pilot the affairs of the nation in 2023.
The governor made the disclosure during consultative engagements with party stakeholders ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Primary billed for May 29, 2022.
Nigeria News House reports that the governor visited the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the PDP Senate and House of Representative’s caucuses to market his aspiration to them on Wednesday.
The presidential hopeful said if given the mandate to serve in 2023, he will be a unifier and restore the country on the path of progress and development as exemplified by his achievements as FCT Minister during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
His words, “I am not going to be a Northern President or a Muslim-Fulani President or a Minority President. I am going to be a president for all Nigerians. A president who understands the nuances, norms and feelings of Nigerians because I have touched them, I have worked with them, I have understood them. I know what Nigerians want. What they want is good governance, justice and equity. And then management of scarce resources. I did it as FCT Minister, I can do it as President of Nigeria.”
The governor pledged to accept the decision of the party on zoning and consensus arrangement.
Minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who spoke on behalf of the PDP Senate Caucus assured the governor of the lawmakers’ support to clinch the ticket of the party ahead of the 2023 Presidential election.
National Chairman of the party, Iyiochia Ayu in his response applauded the presidential hopeful for his achievements as governor of Bauchi State, Senator and Minister of the FCT. He assured that the party under his watch will provide a level playing field for all aspirants.
