Bandits abduct mother, daughter, driver after distributing Sallah relief materials in Kaduna


A Mother, daughter and a commercial driver conveying them to Kaduna after a humanitarian mission and distribution of materials to the less privileged at Mariri community in Lere Local Council of Kaduna, have been abducted by gunmen alleged to be bandits.

The Guardian reports that a source from the area told newsmen yesterday, in Kaduna that the victim, Ramatu Abarshi, and her daughter were returning to Kaduna, after a visit to Mariri village in Kajuru Local government area, where they had gone for humanitarian services to distribute household items to the needy ahead of Eid-el- Fitr sallah celebration.

The unidentified Taxi driver who was hired by Ramatu and her daughter to convey them to where they distributed the materials was also kidnapped alongside the duo.

According to him, the abductees where unfortunately abducted by some alleged bandits after they have completed the distribution of the Sallah relief materials to various households in Mariri community.

He added that the victims vehicle was allegedly attacked around Kasuwan Magani axis where they were eventually abducted.

Also, a family friend to the abducted victim told newsmen that the bandits who claimed responsibility for the abduction have asked for a ransom of N100 million to secure the release of the abductees.

Meanwhile, attempts to get an official information regarding the incident through phone call to the police Public Relations Officers of the state, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammed Jalige, was unsuccessful.
