Bandits reportedly invaded a Fulani settlement in Pai community, Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja on Sunday, killing one herder.
It was gathered that the heavily-armed bandits attacked the settlement around 11:12 pm on Sunday, shooting sporadically.
A resident of Pai community, simply identified as Shehu, said the deceased, Ado Mamman, was was shot on the chest while trying to resist the attackers from whisking his kinsman away.
“It was the sporadic gun shot that even attracted the attention of the villagers, until about 4:am this morning when it was discovered that bandits killed one of the herders and whisked away one other person,” he was quoted as saying by Daily Trust.
The abducted herder was identified as Maude Ado.
The Gwagwalada Area Council Branch secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Mohammed Usman, who confirmed the killing and abduction of a herder at Pai community, said he got the information about the incident at about 6:12 am on Monday.
He added that the deceased had been buried.
“But as I speak to you, a contact is yet to be established from the abductors of the man,” he said.
Efforts by journalists to reach the FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Adeh Josephine, were unsuccessful at press time as she did not respond to calls put to her mobile phone line or reply to a text message sent to her about the latest kidnap incident.
