Emerging report indicates that Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has picked Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
Okowa and Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike have been locked in fierce battle over who should become Vice Presidential candidate of the party.
A committee set up by the party to select a running mate had recommended Wike as the preferred pick for Vice President subject to Atiku’s approval.
But Atiku, after a meeting with PDP governors and stakeholders opted for Okowa because of the combative nature of Wike which may affect the party’s fortune at the polls.
