Court remands unemployed man for allegedly stealing 3 yards of brocade

A Kano Sharia Court on Thursday ordered that a 30-year-old man, Masu’d Muhammed, who allegedly stole three yards of brocade be remanded in a correction centre.

The police charged Muhammed who lives in Tudun Murtala, Quarters Kano, with criminal trespass and theft.

The Judge, Alhaji Ismai’l Muhammad-Ahmed, adjourned the case until Aug.3, for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Mr Abdul Wada, told the court that the defendant, committed the offence on July 18, at Danbare Quarters Kano.

Wada said that on the same date at about 10:30 p.m., the defendant criminally trespassed into the shop of Abdulkadir Ibrahim and also stole one sack of leather.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 133 and 201 of the Kano State Sharia Law.
