Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja has denied the bail application filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In her ruling on Wednesday, the trial judge held that since Kanu earlier jumped bail in 2017, the court must first determine the reason he jumped bail before being granted another one.
The court disagreed with the defendant that he escaped out of the country when a retinue of armed soldiers allegedly invaded his ancestral home in Abia State.
The federal government had on Wednesday re-arraigned the IPOB leader on amended six count charge of treasonable felony.
