Inspector killed as terrorists bomb police station in Kogi


Terrorists have bombed a police station at Eika-Ohizenyi, in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

YANS gathered that the assailants stormed the police station about 2:15 a.m on Friday, and launched an improvised explosive device (IED).

A police inspector identified as Mr Jubril was killed in the attack.

According to the Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, William Ovye-Aya, who confirmed the attack, via a statement released on Friday, the police inspector killed in the attack exchanged fire with the insurgents.

Ovye-Aya explained that the terrorists fled before the Area Commander and a detachment of military could reinforce to the scene of the incident.

The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, has ordered a full scale investigation into the latest attack on police facility.

He said the CP who visited the scene for assessment on Friday, also “ordered the deployment of additional operational assets consisting of Operatives of the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, State Intelligence Bureau in synergy with other security agencies to restore normalcy in the area”.
