Operatives of the Ogun state police command has arrested an Islamic cleric identified as Abdul Salami Yakub for allegedly defrauding some members of the public.

Rukayat Ibrahim who forwarded a complaint to the Ogun state police command said the suspect defrauded her and her younger sister, Oluwaseun Ibrahim, to the tune of N5.475million.

According to Rukayat, Yakub who is known to be an Islamic cleric, claimed to have a spiritual solution to her daughter’s problem.

However nothing was mention as to what seems to be Rukayat’s daughter’s problem that the suspect claimed to have spiritual solutions to.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Ogun state police command, switched in to action, which resulted to the arrest of Yakub.

The Ogun state police spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the incident, told newsmen that the suspect is in the police custody ready to be charged to court.

He further advised Nigerians to be careful of whom they approach for spiritual solution to their problems to avoid falling victim to fraud.

The apprehended suspect, was found with a masquerade head, assorted charms and magic pots after a search was carried out in his house.
