May Day: FNM Convener, Ifeanyi Igwe Felicitates With Nigerian Workers, Urges FG To Resolve Impasse With ASUU

Convener The Future is Now Movement, Hon. Ifeanyi Igwe, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the occasion of the 2022 Workers’ Day.

Workers’ day, also known as Labour Day in some countries and often referred to as May Day, is a celebration of labourers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labour movement and occurs every year on May 1st.

Igwe specifically saluted Nigerians workers for their hard work and dedication despite the numerous challenges bedeviling the working class in the country.

He also ceased the opportunity to urged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to honour its agreement with the the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), so as to enable the lecturers to return to class.

Former PDM National Secretary said the situation where workers are being owed their salaries and other benefits does not speak well of a country that depends totally on the working class for its work force.

He also lamented the excruciating implications of government’s refusal to pay workers’ salaries as at when due on the economy.

Igwe urged Nigerians, especially workers, to get their PVCs ready to vote only leaders that value their importance in the 2023 general elections.

He wished them a peaceful workers’ day celebration.

  1. With the current economic situation of this country that is becoming increasingly unbearable by the day, it will be nice if the government of this nation pays workers salaries as at when due. It will help ease a lot of tension.
