Penile tumescence, also known as penile erection, is a physiological phenomena in which the penis gets stiff, engorged, and swollen as a result of complex interactions of psychological, neurological, vascular, and endocrine components, resulting in sexual arousal or sexual desires. Although erections can occur spontaneously, the shape, angle, and direction of an erection in humans vary greatly.
Erection is triggered by the parasympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system, in which the level of nitric oxide (NO), a potent vasodilator, rises in the trabecular arteries and smooth muscle of the penile arteries dilates, resulting in an increase in blood flow into the corpora cavernosa of the penis and to a lesser extent, into the corpus spongium, while the veins of the corp As a result, flow increases while venous drainage decreases. Erection can be caused by a variety of factors, such as sexual stimulation and sexual arousal, but it’s not always under your control, such as erection while sleeping (morning wood), also known as nocturnal penile turnescense (NPT)
Partial turmescense refers to a penis that is somewhat erect (not entirely erect), whereas flaccid refers to a penis that is completely not erect.
Erectile dysfunction is the inability to achieve or maintain a sufficient erection of the penis for sexual satisfaction of the partner. It can be temporary at first, but if left untreated, it can become permanent. It’s also known as ejaculation occurring before or soon after the penis enters the vaginal canal. This might be aggravating, especially if the penis is unable to archive erection. In many households, it is a significant difficulty.
