FLASH: Senator Binani On Course To Become First Female Governor From Northern Nigeria


Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani is on course to become the first female governor from  Northern Nigeria after emerging winner of the Adamawa State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries held on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

The lawmaker who represents Adamawa Central defeated former Governor Umar Jibrilla Bindow and a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu to clinch to sole ticket of the party ahead of 2023 governorship election.

Senator Binani has one last hurdle to climb to  make history and become the first ever female governor from Northern Nigeria.

Virginia Etiaba is the first female governor in Nigeria’s history.

She was the Governor of Anambra State from November 2006 to February 2007.
