Suspected child trafficker nabbed in Anambra

YANS reports that a suspected child trafficker, Chinwendu Umegbaka, has been arrested by Police operatives in Anambra.

Umegbaka, 29, allegedly stole her neighbor’s a three-year-old child.

She was apprehended on Saturday at about 4.30pm, at Nwawulu Street, Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed the arrest in a statement released on Monday and made available to newsmen.

The PPRO said the suspect initially denied knowledge of the whereabouts of the three years old girl, but later confessed to the crime.

He said the “suspect made confessional statement to the police of stealing the child with the intention of selling her.”

Ikenga added that the girl had been recovered and reunited with the family.

He said the command has commenced investigation into the matter, and promised to give feedback on further developments.
