A member of a vigilante group has been reportedly killed and burnt by a mob over alleged blasphemy at Federal Housing, Lugbe in Abuja.
It was gathered that members of the vigilante group guarding the timber shed market at the estate had wanted to arrest some residents wandering around the market in the early hours of Saturday.
The residents were said to have begged the vigilance group to free them in the name of Allah but one of the vigilantes kicked and made comments said to be blasphemous.
In a trending video shared online and seen by this newspaper, the mob who are mostly youths could be seen jubilating while a voice who spoke in Hausa language said the vigilante man that was killed was a Muslim. He also affirmed that anyone that insults Prophet Muhammed will not go scot-free.
According to eyewitness account, the vigilante was beaten and stoned before he was set ablaze.
This development comes weeks after Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State was murdered and set ablaze by a mob over alleged blasphemy.
