World Cup 2022: Aguero Makes Claim On Lionel Messi

Date:

Manchester City legend, Sergio Aguero has claimed that the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar could be Lionel Messi’s last World Cup.

Aguero said that with Messi in the Argentina team, anything is possible and it would be a perfect way for the seven-time Ballon d’ Or winner to finish his international career by winning the World Cup this year.

Argentina are in Group C alongside Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland.

Speaking to Stake (via the Manchester Evening News), Aguero was quoted as saying: “This could be Lionel Messi’s last World Cup, so everyone in the country has high hopes.

“He is the greatest player of all time and a legend in Argentina, but winning the World Cup would be a perfect way to finish for him as an international player.”

He added,

“Argentina were unbeaten in qualifying and only finished below Brazil, and with Messi in the team, anything is possible.”

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will commence on Monday, November 21.
